What is a Rally?
A rally allows USPC members to test their skills against others. In addition,
rallies are educational experiences that expose participants to new ideas
and ways of doing things. There are only a few rallies scheduled for 2008
and they are all perfect for Ds and new members. We strongly recommend that
you sign up for Quiz, the EBTH Rally, the Mock D, and finally the D summer
camp/rally in Santa Cruz in August. These are all really fun and the perfect
introduction to Pony Club and team competition.
Quiz
- Hosted by Golden Hills PC in Gilroy March 8
A Quiz competition is an unmounted team "quiz bowl" that tests the USPC member's
knowledge in several rounds of questions. Some questions are individual questions
and some require the input of the whole team. Some of the areas of knowledge
that are tested include horse management, health, veterinary care, equitation,
hunting, trailering, bitting, spectator sports, rally rules, safety, nutrition,
and conformation. Questions are all rating specific.
While Regional competitions are open to all members in the Region, competitors
must be ten years of age or older to qualify for the national Championships.Quiz
Rally is the first Rally in 2008 and will be hosted by Golden Hills Pony Club
in Gilroy. New members should be encouraged to sign up for this very fun rally.
It is a great way to learn a lot and compete with your friends. Entry forms
have been posted on the Mid Cal homepage at http://midcal.ponyclub.org/quiz_rally_information.htm
Everything
but the Horse Rally (EBTH), hosted by Crossroads Pony Club in Walnut
Creek, April 19th
The EBTH Rally is a must for all new members. Each competitor makes a stick
horse and competes in dressage, cross country and stadium jumping on the stick
horse. It is a great introduction to the sport of eventing and to horse management.
C helpers are the judges and stable managers. Teams come with a tack trunk
and ready to take care of their stick horses as if for a regular event. Visit
the MidCal website at http://midcal.ponyclub.org/EBTH_rally.htm
for entry forms and more information.
Mock
Eventing Rally, hosted by Moon Valley Pony Club June 14th - 15th
Located on the coast, Windance Ranch is a beautiful setting for this wonderful
rally. The "Mock" rally is very low key and it is geared for D1- D3 riders.
Participants and parents sleep in tents next to their horses and enjoy two
days of fun competition in dressage, cross country and stadium jumping. C's
provide horse management support. The rally is super fun and will give you
lasting memories for years to come.Visit the Mid Cal website at http://midcal.ponyclub.org/mock_D_rally.htm

Fairgrounds) August 14 - 17th
The Santa Cruz Pony Club hosts this wonderful camp every year for Ds. Once
again, Cs help out and support the younger members. This time participants
are expected to work more independently. Kids always talk about how fun this
camp and competition are and how wonderful the food is! More information is
